Babysitting Elena and Olivia

The chance to babysit is really great for me (Especially since I GOT A PHONE!!! So I can pay it off......!!!). Moms says I'm really good at it, because its just something I'm naturally good at.

The two girls I'm babysitting, Olivia (1 and a half) and Elena (3 and a half), are great to babysit! When I'm at their house,we do several things: Play outside, watch TV (things like Bolt or Clifford The Big Red Dog), play in the "dirt pile", paint, read, make lunch, and will occasionally will go on beach-walks. Olivia and Elena can be a little bit of a handful, but fun to entertain.

Lots of things

Lots of things that are happening lately are hard to explain.... why? I don't know.

I got my logipen!!!!! It's actually quite a fantastic product, and took only 4 days to get to Alaska from the day we ordered it.... and it was from Tel Aviv, Israel! The little gadget takes pictures from what I write, saves it, and then you load it on your computer, so you can edit them.

We have Rabbi Steve and his friend visiting and teaching here, all the way from Fairbanks! They will be here for Shavuot, which is great!

I've received a baby-sitting job for the summer, to baby-sit 3 times a week. This is a whole new experience for me! I'll be starting tomorrow.

**************

That's the short, quick-written update.

*************

Batmitzvah preparation:

1.Making paper flowers (We're going to have a spring-ish theme!)
2.Read through the whole bible!
3.Reading my torah portion

Sorry, I haven't been blogging for a long time.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Sometimes it it so hard to wait for things. SUPER hard. The LogiPen (we ordered it!) just shipped out yesterday. (actually, it's a product from Israel, so it might take forever for it to get here!). The older I get, though, the easier it becomes to be patient.

List times when you remember when you've been impatient.

Thanks for following and reading,

I want to thank you to all my followers... sorry, I sometimes blog way too much and sometimes too little! Thanks again.

Ok. So maybe I'll blog tomorrow about the trip, but I'd rather blog about this right now:

The Logipen****

So I've been looking at electronic devices to make writing a little easier for me (since I lose my "work" sometimes) And I've found something called LogiPen. It's really cool.

Hair

Q: What is hair? Hair is a filament, mostly protein, that grows from follicles found in the dermis. The human body, apart from the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, is covered in follicles which produce thick terminal and fine vellus hair. Most common interest in hair is focused on hair growth, hair types and hair care but hair is also an important biomaterial and the hair follicle is a well studied biological organ.

Q: Where is blond hair "found"? Blond hair is most frequently found among the indigenous peoples of Northern Europe. The pigmentation of both hair and eyes is lightest around the south of the Baltic Sea and their darkness increases regularly and almost concentrically around this region.[22] Because of emigration and invasion from northern Europe, there are a number of blonds in Southern Europe and Eastern Europe. Due to migration from Europe from the 16th to the 20th centuries, blonds are also found all around the world such as in North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Siberia, etc.

Q: Does cutting hair make it grow faster?: No, but it makes your hair healthier

So..... what do you think about the questions? Let me know :)

Photography.... I love photography. I love pictures. I don't know what I would do with out them.

Photography is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures by recording radiation on a sensitive medium, such as a photographic film, or an electronic sensor. Light patterns reflected or emitted from objects activate a sensitive chemical or electronic sensor during a timed exposure, usually through a photographic lens in a device known as a camera that also stores the resulting information chemically or electronically. Photography has many uses for business, science, art, and pleasure.

Now..... isn't that AMAZING?
With pictures we can now capture wonderful, beautiful moments. Looking at pictures, we remember memories that we wouldn't with out looking at that photo.
Lately I've been looking at pictures of me when I was little, and some I can remember being in that moment, some I can't, but either way I can enjoy looking at them.

Some people say that pictures can say more than a thousand words. I think so also. So I'm going to try to describe the photo above in a couple words.

I hope you have enjoyed.

Spring is almost here!
I'm looking forward happily to spring..... I wish May would already come. You may ask, 'what happens in May?' Well, May is like the first month of spring, and school would almost be over, so I'd start working again, and my Batmiztvah will be on the end of May.
Speaking of Bat-mitzvah..... It's coming so quickly! I remember when I was eight years old and Brooke had just had her Bat-mitzvah, I wanted for mine to come quickly.
Oh, it'll be forver until MY Bat-mitzvah!
But now here I am..... I have no idea how I got here. Only a month and a half until I have my party!
************
The party
We're hoping to schedule it on the last Friday of May... (Jacynne, can your family come around that time?) I'll be having a spring, scrapbook, literature, theme.... a little bit of everything.
Thx for reading :) Leave a comment if you have any questions......

CCC Holds a Mystery Murder DinnerBy Tara Hueper

At CCC (Christian Community Church) on Friday night, April 9th, 2009, there was a Murder Mystery dinner.

“Once you sign up to be there, you get a card telling what your character is. You have to dress up and act like your character. When you come to the party, they give you a piece of paper saying if you had a weapon, where you were when the murder happened, and why you were there, and a notepad to use to ask people questions,” commented Marilyn Hueper, dressed up as a gypsy.

While the Murder Mystery was being held, there was a finger food dinner served while guests interviewed each other. Near the end, the guests wrote down who they thought was the murderer on a small piece of paper, and put it in a small bowl. Then the hosts would announce who guessed correctly.

“I’m glad CCC held this Murder Mystery dinner. It’s a good chance to get together and have fun with your friends,” Abigail Flory said that night.

Many of the guests enjoyed the dinner, and hope to do it again next year.

Blogging almost every day has been a really good project for me. Lately, though, I haven't had much to post. So, what i'm thinking is, I'm going to have a goal to blog three times a week... that way, every post is a little more special, and interesting. About passover.... and our room.

tttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

Monday night we had a large Passover gathering at Refuge Chapel in Homer. Most of Haven (a church) people came, people from Refuge, and a few other people from different fellowships. The Passover sedar was held on Monday, from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.

And by the way... it was great!

I didn't do a lot of the set up, but I helped with some. The day before, Dad and some other people set up all the tables and decorations. The next day, we came early to help.

Once the ceremony began, we did what most people do on a Passover sedar. Eat matzvah, bitter herbs, do the cups.... etc.

The really big bummer is, though, I felt sick after half of it. I wasn't feeling that well that day, and I needed to come home early.

tttttttttttttttttttttttt

Our room-

The day after passover (a special sabbath) our family decided we would do a project. After a hour or so of organizing, and making shelves, Ria and I had our own side of the room! Ria has one side, where's she has all of her stuff, and there's another side of the room where I have my things... and my special place to hang out. My side of the room is a little larger than Ria's, but she doesn't mind (which is nice of her). Now I have my side of the room!

tttttttttttttttttttttttt

Pictures:

Left above: The tables and set up for the Passover sedar.

Middle above: Ria standing proudly with her shelves, on her side of the room.

Right above: Me on my side of the room, sitting, editing one of my friend's story! I love my new space :)

(Electronic notepad above)

I'm very, very proud of my self. I've blogged every week at least 5 times. I wonder how long this goal lasts, hopefully it'll go on for awhile!

Electronic notepad:
I've been given advice to carry pen and paper with me, wherever I go since I want to possibly be a writer and editor. Yes, this is good advice, but I lose what I write too often that way. So I've been trying to look for something electronic that I could write down my ideas, writings, and notes and saves it. I thought the iPod Touch might work, but it has a touch screen.... and those take forever to write on. So I've been looking around, and guess what I found? And electronic notepad! You write on regular paper on top of a screen (the device is about the size of a clipboard) and it records all your writing, and then you load it onto a computer. Pretty cool, right? Connections might possibly be able to pay for it, too.

Testing:
Pretty soon I'll be doing the tests Connections have you do once a year, starting with 3d grade. I've done my practice reading test all ready, and tomorrow I'll be doing the writing practice test. Math I'm okay with getting an average score, but I really want to get an advanced score for reading and writing badly! Hope it all goes well. Pray 4 me.

Room Decor~
Still haven't ordered the bedspread! :(

Spring Break-
Sannerieke left last Thursday! I'll miss her so much!! I think she's coming back on the 15th......??!!

I've been really enjoying spring break. I didn't have any music lessons, but I still had some school. I hung out with Sannerieke on Monday, and went to the Flory's for a PHOTO SHOOT!! (I have to say I love being in pictures!) It was awesome, and so much fun. Leah posted some of the pictures on FB. Then hung out with Abby on Tuesday until Youth group. It was all so much fun! Back to regular life tomorrow.

A new follower!.....

I have a new follower...... my friend, Sannerieke!!! YEAH!!!
Wow..... I'm really excited!! Lol!

Anyway.....

when you blog this often, you start to run out of things to write down.

Well, last night we hung out with the B's (Sannerieke and her family), and had a fantastic time. I showed Sannerieke my blog, and she decided to make one too! I helped her set up, choose her template, and then a cool background from http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/, the best place to find free backgrounds. Thank you so much for showing that to me, Jacynne!

I have one more follower!!!!

Room decor~

Does anyone know a really good book on room decor? (thanks!)

Anyway, we got this chair from a thrift store in town awhile ago, it's mostly green. Since I want my main colors in my room to be blue, sometime we're going to make it blue and purple with cute designs and everything then put it in my room. I've been trying to make alot of my items in my bedroom blue. My tissue box, my bed, etc.
*****************
So, you know how I will be having my batmitzvah party in May/June? Well, I've finally picked a mitzvah project. I'm going to help mom with contacting her family. On my moms side of the family, she has a hard time contacting with them. Not that she doesn't love them, of course, but... she'd like to get better at talking and contacting her family. So, for my mitzvah project, I'm going to help her. Cool, huh?
Tara
P.S maybe I can get Abby hooked onto blogspot!!

Friday, March 12, 2010

Ahhhhhh! I have two followers on my blog.... not a bad thing, of course, just wish I had more.

Turned out we didn't order that bedspread. Oh, well. We'll get it sometime.

We're going to be hanging out with the B's tonight. Shabbat Shalom!

Murder Mystery hasn't been re-scheduled yet, we haven't heard anything about it. Maybe the B's will.

I've Kept My Promise

So far I've kept my promise. Which is good. My goal was to write 5 times a week, and last I have done more than 5 times. Hopefully, I'll keep on blogging!

I'm surprised we haven't lost our power yet.

Well, we are no longer are having heavy snow, but we still are having strong winds. The wind is blowing snow from the ground. This morning some of the roads were blocked.

Can't wait until Friday. I am so ready for the week end.

That's pretty all I have to blog right now. Thanks for reading!

The Spaghetti That Made History!

Spaghetti sauce usually tastes like spaghetti sauce. But the spaghetti sauce Ria made today tastes great and unique.

Ria Hueper usually helps her mom with cooking dinner, sometimes lunch, and occasionally with snacks. Her family calls her "The little chef."

"We're making spaghetti sauce tonight. We have herbs, tomato sauce, Keen-wa gluten free noodles, so that Dad can have it since he's slightly allergic to gluten. The herbs we are putting in it are bay leaves, a little bit of Israeli herbs, and parsley," Ria said.

Ria hopes to possibly be a chef one day, when she grows up.

"I think I'll work as a chef for a few years, maybe," she exclaimed. "Maybe even an Italian restaurant. I love Italian food!"

The spaghetti sauce tastes like a traditional spaghetti sauce, except its slightly sweeter and has a salty, smoky flavor.

When the Huepers sit down tonight to eat, they certainly will enjoy their delicious food!

**************************

A cooking tip from Ria for sauces:

1.Most professionals use wooden
spoons, because they don't want
it to taste metallic, or get tiny
chunks of plastic in it.

It tastes better and is healthier and
better that way. Use a wooden spoon!

*****************************

Her spaghetti sauce recipe:

~Ground beef
~Tomato paste, tomato sauce.
~Smoked salt
~Cinnamon
~A teeny bit of sugar
~Bay leaf
~Parsley
~Regular salt
~Israeli herbs
~Basil

* Ria suggests using Keen-wa noodles!

********************

Thanks you guys so much for reading! I wanted to interview someone about something as if I was in a daily newspaper, and so I interviewed Ria about her spaghetti sauce she made tonight! ( It is VERY good!) I used a voice recorder, and a pen and note pad. I'll try and interview some people for the Murder Mystery, and to write all about it.

The Snow Blizzard~

Right now we are having a small snow blizzard, which is very unusual for Homer, Alaska. I just hope we don't lose electricity so I can keep blogging.

I better finish, just in case the electricity goes out and all my work is deleted. Thanks for reading!

Remember.... I love it when you leave comments! :)

A couple of questions and then just some random stuff........

Room decor~

This is what I'd like to get for a bedspread. I've had the same old green bedspread for a few years, and I thought it would be good to get a new one. I can't wait until I can order it! If you want to know more about it just click this: http://brylanehomes.com/decor/Jackson-Comforter-Set.aspx?PfId=15475&DeptId=19903&ProductTypeId=2&PurchaseType=0&pref=pvp#ReviewHeader

Tell me what you think of it..... is it right for me? Because if you don't, there are lots of other great, cheap bedspreads I can find.

Thx!

Big Bummer :(

Murder Mystery..... canceled.

Yesterday we received a call from *CCC (Christian Community Church, where they are holding the murder mystery) and they said that there was some rumors that there was going to be a big snow blizzard (We've been getting a lot of heavy snow and strong winds), so they canceled.

What a big bummer! :(

We don't know when they will re-schedule the murder mystery, but I'm hoping they will next Friday......

I was so looking forward to writing all about it! Oh, well.

Room decor~

Thanks for the comments and ideas! If you come up with something really cool for room decor let me know. :)

Spring!!!........ Not.

For three weeks in Homer, AK, the weather was acting like it was spring.

But for the last few days, It's been snowing lightly. Today, I woke up and looked out side my window, and there was snow everywhere! Public schools have no school today....

Murder Mystery~

Tonight CCC (Christian Community Church) is holding a "Murder Mystery." Everyone that is going gets a character, and she/he gets to dress up as that character and act like their character. Guess what character I got? A newspaper reporter! Mom and my younger sister Ria are dressing up as gypsies, and Brooke is "Miss Hawaii." I don't remember Dads, though. I'll take pictures of our costumes so you can see them.

Room decor~

My favorite color is blue, and that's the color I want most of my room to be. I plan on getting a new blue bedspread, and possibly buying more blue decorations. What are some really cool crafts I can do to decorate my room more? Comment please if you have any ideas. Thank you! I might post a picture after my room is more completed.

Update on what I'm reading:

Right now I am reading, "The Pickpockets Tale." (You should read it Jacynne)

Tired.

Can't Sleep.

UGH.

It's 6:30 in the morning right now and I can't get back to sleep. Might as well blog.

My goal:

Is to try and blog every school day. I don't know how long my goal should go- I guess for awhile, at least. End when I start running out of things to write about.

Hebrew:

Hebrew is coming along fairly well. Slow, though. I know how to say "How are you?" "Excuse me" and "Hello". I'll be trying to master some of the sabbath prayers.

Maybe I can go to sleep now. See you all tomorrow!

Tara

Still a little bit tired from the big Purim party we had two nights ago (It was a lot of fun, of course, but completely exhausting!). The morning after the party I woke up with a weak voice because I had been shouting alot.
Now that our living room is almost finished, we can have lots of people over now instead of being crammed into one small dining room.

Tara's random note:
No youth group tonight :(

Question for all the blog-spot bloggers out there:

What are some really cool gadgets that would be fun to add to my blog?

More all about me

More all about me:

Favorite actor/actress: Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway

Favorite ice-cream?: cookie dough

Favorite Musician?: Francesca Batistelli

Favorite Flower: I dunno...

Random Notes:

It's kinda funny how people (including me) always do a introduction of how many siblings we have, where we live, etc, even though the people that will probably be reading your blog already know that.

All About Me:

I'm stuck in between names- "Tara Hueper- the girl who loves to read" or "Tara Hueper's random notes."

I'll probably be mostly be doing random notes, but I do love to read. Which one? Leave a comment please telling which one I should have! Thank you so much.

About Me:

I love to read.... as you probably already know. I also love to write and make up stories, but not as much as reading. Since I was eight, I wanted a job that has something to do with literature. At first, I wanted to be a writer. But I don't think I'd like to have writing as my job. Because I love to read so much, I decided I should be a book editor. I like to give advice, and I love to read people's writings, so that probably the best job for me, right?

If anyone has stories that want editing, just let me know!

About my life:

Siblings?: Yes, two sisters! One older, one younger, so that makes me the middle child.

Favorite series?: The Covenant series, The Zion Chronicles, and several other series... too many to count!

Favorite treat?: Chocolate!

Besides reading and writing, what are some of my favorite things to do?: Hang out with friends, drawing, decorating my room, etc.

I think thats enough for now..... Thanks for reading!
